Me and My Lighthouse...

This is one of my favourite pictures.
It was created for me by my good friend Joe.
Since I go on about Cornwall so much, he decided to design this uber cute pic of me and my most treasured view - Godrevy Lighthouse.
Isn't it lovely.

Room at the Top

Today I've indulged in a little writing.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I've started sorting out my new office. It's right at the top of our house. However, I can't see much today because of the eery mist that currently surrounds my town. What happened to the sun from yesterday I ask?

Anyway, now that my room at the top is almost ready, it's given me the incentive to start working again. I've spent alot of time researching this story, and not alot of getting it on screen, but now I think I'm ready. I may not have the time to write as feverishly as I did before I went back to "paid" work, but boy, I am ready to use my time wisely, something I have failed to do in the past few months.
I am quite excited about this WIP though, and OK, I maybe becoming a little too Daphne Du Maurier for once again writing about Cornwall, but how can that be a bad thing?  My reason for feeling endeared to this project is that there are aspects to the story that are personal, based on true life, as well as being purely Karen Roderick's unruly imagination. I'll keep you up to date.

Oh, the mist is retreating and I can see the trees again, maybe now is a good time for a cup of tea before picking up son number one from school.

Have a great day,

Happy Birthday "The English Writer"!

'The English Writer' blog is 1 this month, but it's 4 years this year since I first pressed that 'publish' button over at my old blog site 'Pink Cupcakes'.
Blogging...what a strange yet exhilirating thing. Such a brilliant invention.
Unfortunately I don't blog as much as I used to. Life is pretty busy over this way, and as much as I'd like to say it will change, I doubt it will.
This year alone has seen another house move and a job promotion.

And not alot of writing.

However, I continued to be inspired. Here's what's doing it for me at the moment:

Beady Eye's 'Different Gear, Still Speeding',
French clothing company 'The Kooples' (see my new parka and complimentary bag below),

My new office hidden away at the top of our new house; just the way I like it. Not much to look at yet, but believe me, it's a very cool space.
Scillian olives I first tasted at 'Jamie's Italian' in Birmingham in February, and now I am delighted to discover my local deli sells them.
This divine freshly baked foccacia enjoyed with olives above.
My continued love for everything Orla Kiely.
And this man - Jamie O, for making me want to cook again.
Have a great weekend,

Geek Dress

I don't know why I keep referring to this dress as 'geeky', because as I'm fairly geeky anyway surely it's no surpris...
